In-person therapy in Rio and online therapy for clients abroad

English-speaking psychologist in Rio de Janeiro

Going into psychotherapy is not at all a sign of weakness  - on the contrary! - it is a sign of courage, strength and determination to change what is keeping you from being happy.

Initial Interview

Natalia R. Moreira - English speaking psychologist in Rio de Janeiro.
Psychotherapist and relationship columnist.

The initial interview is your first contact with the psychologist. It is an opportunity for clients to see how they feel in the office and when talking to the psychologist. Finding the right psychologist might not be a simple task. For therapy to work, it is essential that the client feels comfortable in the office and with the psychologist. Client and psychologist have to connect and the initial interview provides a chance for them to feel if such connection can happen.

Most importantly it is a chance for the client to express his/her demands and expectations regarding the process and for the psychologist to see if he/she is able to approach the client's specific demand. Initial interviews are free of charge.

Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery, and in my sessions I work alongside my clients to promote transformation by opening up new meanings and perspectives. Empathy, respect and support are key values for our journey together. I have the tools and professional experience to help you get back on track.

Services I Offer

Individual therapy

In individual psychotherapy, we work together in a context characterized by confidentiality and trust and clients find a space where they can talk and work on their personal fears, concerns and frustrations, healing past wounds, getting to know themselves better and finding creative ways to deal with difficult situations. We work together as to open up for new meanings and perspectives resulting in better quality of experience.  I’m confident you’ll find sessions beneficial and inspirational. Get in touch to book an appointment.

Couples Therapy

Feeling a bit down lately and nothing seems to lift your spirits? It might be time to seek help from a licensed professional. My Couples Therapy sessions help clients improve their means of communication as well as their communicational patterns. I strive to provide them with tools that can help the couple to communicate more efficiently, learning to accept and be more empathetic with their partner’s differences.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that seeks to reduce distress and conflict by improving the systems of interactions between family members. Family therapy is a very specialized skill set, and one should seek a therapist who has received training qualifying them to perform this type of counseling. I work with families to help them improve their communication and to develop the skills and resources they need to face both external and internal issues in a way that enhances each member’s well being, as well as that of the family system as a whole.
